What is Illuvium (ILV)?

Illuvium is a sprawling, open-world fantasy battle game developed on the Ethereum blockchain, frequently regarded as Ethereum's inaugural AAA gaming experience. The game caters to both casual players and devoted DeFi aficionados by offering an array of collection and trading functionalities.

In the world of Illuvium, players encounter creatures called Illuvials, which can be captured and healed after defeating them in battle. Once captured, these creatures become part of the player's collection and can be used in battles against other players within the auto-battler gameplay. Illuvium combines open-world exploration with player-vs-player combat, allowing players to explore the game world or build powerful teams of creatures.

Who founded Illuvium?

Developed since 2020 by a global team of over 40 individuals, Illuvium is co-founded by entrepreneur Kieran Warwick and game designer Aaron Warwick, who are brothers and also siblings of Kain Warwick, co-founder of the DeFi platform Synthetix. The ILV token serves multiple purposes within the Illuvium ecosystem, rewarding players for in-game achievements, granting shares of the Illuvium Vault, and enabling participation in the game's governance through the Illuvium decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).

Illuvium Review

Illuvium is an innovative project that offers a unique gaming experience, combining elements of open-world exploration and PVP combat within a blockchain-based environment. The game's focus on high-quality graphics and gameplay sets it apart from many other blockchain-enabled games. With a dedicated team of developers and artists, Illuvium has the potential to become a popular choice among gamers and DeFi enthusiasts alike.

Despite this, we've found critical and potential vulnerabilities in the project. A major one we've uncovered with our security review is that the smart contract seems to be a honeypot. If you want to know more about what this means, you can check out Cointelegraph's article explaining in detail how works here.

Aside from that, we've uncovered potential risks such as the contract having a mint function, which can be dangerous if used with malicious intent. One of its tokens is also untracked, which means that the token might not meet the regulatory requirements or listing criteria of various exchanges or tracking platforms, preventing them from being listed or tracked.

Is Illuvium a Scam?

Illuvium doesn't seem likely to be a scam. The project has an active team behind it, including co-founders with credible backgrounds and experience in the gaming and DeFi industries.

Illuvium's development is still ongoing with constant updates on its progress. The project also seems to be well-received by the crypto and gaming communities.

As with any blockchain-related investment, being cautious is essential. Undertake your own research (DYOR) to steer clear of risks you'd rather not encounter. The cryptocurrency arena is brimming with scams; thus, staying ahead of recent developments is a key strategy for safeguarding against bad actors and deceitful tactics.
